Lexus has finally put the flagship SUV, LX450d on sale in the Indian market at the price of INR 2.32 Crore, ex-showroom Delhi. Lexus, the luxury-arm of the Japanese auto giant unveiled this full sized SUV at the time of its brand entry in the Indian auto segment along with two other vehicles - RX 450h hybrid SUV and ES300h hybrid sedan. While both, the RX 450h and ES300h were gone on sale at the same time, the LX450d price was not disclosed.

Now what we get is the single range-topping diesel powered model featuring a V8 setup beneath the front-end. The LX450d is based on the same platform that runs Toyota Land Cruiser as well. Looking at the front of this big boy Lexus, the SUV gets a large face dominated by the massive grille which is bordered in a hexagonal pattern and the headlamps. The side profile of the SUV features conventional design ideology, while the rooflines flow into the wrap around the taillamps.
Inside the cabin, the LX450d gets a dual-tone interior theme featuring a deep brown shade on the dashboard and dark beige colour scheme on the upholstery. Since the SUV carries a premium price tag, it is loaded with all the luxury details which can be expected from the car in this segment.
Among all, the noteworthy features of the car include a 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, wireless charging port located in center console and large screens for the second row occupants.
In terms of safety, the LX450d is blessed with 10 airbags, parking assist, hill assist control and a multi- terrain monitor which provides a 360-degree view of car surroundings. In addition, the LX450d gets moon roof, 4-zone climate control, driver and front passenger power adjustable seats and rain sensing wipers.
Lexus launched the diesel powered model instead of the petrol version in the Indian market, contrary to what is expected. Here, in India, Lexus has launched LX450d fitted with a mighty 4.5-litre V8 diesel motor. This mill is capable of producing a massive power of 270 bhp and an immense torque of 650 Nm.
These whole outputs are delivered to all four wheels via a 6-Speed Automatic Transmission. The AWD system can be further operated through a terrain management system. The monstrous output thrust this 3.3-tonne bull 0 to 100 kmph in 8.1 seconds and up to a top speed of 210 kmph.
With its opulent price tag, the Lexus LX450d has a sole rival in the Indian market, the Range Rover 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography variant which is priced at INR 2.27 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
Recent reports state that the carmaker is in the row to open several dealerships in India in order to expand its portfolio and the primary locations include - Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Apart from this, the carmaker is up for opening service centers in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi.
