Out of upcoming three models, the Lexus LX is the flagship SUV of the brand which is based on the same platform that also underpins Toyota Land Cruiser. Lexus is the brand which stands for both off-road capabilities and luxuries comfort. Initially, this SUV will be launched with only petrol engine option, however, a diesel variant will join it at a later date.

Moving on the under hood specs, globally, the SUV is being offered with two engine options - The petrol-powered LX570 comes with a 5.7-litre V8 engine which is capable of delivering maximum power of 383 hp and 546 Nm of peak torque, whereas the diesel-powered LX450d gets a twin-turbo 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine which is good for 269 hp of maximum power and a massive 650 Nm of torque. Both engines are also available on the Toyota Land Cruiser internationally. On the India-spec SUV, Lexus will bring the LX570 petrol first while the diesel model will join later.

Since LX is the flagship SUV of the brand, it will be loaded with the best-in-class current generation tech and equipment. The features list on the LX 570 SUV includes power folding third row, four-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, adaptive suspension with ride height adjustment, power-adjust front seats, 60:40 split power sliding second row and rear seat entertainment system. There are total 10 airbags and traction control system to protect its occupants. However, it has not confirmed yet whether the India-spec SUV will get a radar based safety system or not.

How much will it cost? The LX570 sits in the off-road luxury segment, we can expect a premium price tag of around INR 1.5 Crore for the SUV. When launched, it will lock its horns against the likes of Range Rover, Mercedes GLS and the Audi Q7. While the Lexus brand will launch in India in early 2017, bookings for Lexus models are expected to commence sometime in November this year.
