Maharashtra Supports EVs By Making Them Tax-Free

The Maharashtra Government has made EVs tax-free and this is inspirational for other states. It has given adequate incentives in this initiative to establish charging infrastructure in the state. The new policy will be supportive for producers and consumers as it will definitely empower the EVs in the country.

Electric Vehicle Policy 2018 Of Maharashtra:

  • In the list of first 1 lakh registrations, the last purchaser will obtain up to 15% of the price as a benefit at the end of this lifecycle.
  • EVs in Maharashtra are free from road tax and registration fees
  • The government has permitted EV producers to establish charging stations at different locations of petrol pumps in India after safety clearance.
  • The government will give up to Rs. 10 lakh per stations subsidiary (25%) to first 250 charging stations.
  • The policy will first implemented in Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nashik, and Thane.
  • The electricity rates on these charging stations will be lower as residential rates.
  • This move supports the statement of central government in regard of stating imminent actions to implement policies. This initiative will further encourage other states to implement such kind of policies for cleaner mobility.

In this EV world, soon buyers will get choices after the launch of the Tiago EV and the Tata Tigor which displayed at the Auto Expo 2018. Hyundai Kona EV will be other option too by the next year. Further, Maruti Suzuki is also planning to launch made-in-India EV in India by 2020.
