The Gusto is built and tested in-house by Mahindra two-wheelers Research and Development division in Pune, India. The Gusto was launched on 29th of September 2014 by the Mahindra two wheelers. A newly joined scooter in the Mahindra two wheelers portfolio that has already received a bit of success. This is the first scooter introduced by the company, which comes with 110cc engine and it gets a position below the Rodeo scooter in the company’s line-up. There is something unique in the design of the Gusto, which grabs attention of the female and male riders. Let’s start from the Nose, the front apron is decorated with the Mahindra's emblem, which is placed at the center that holds two blinkers on the either sides and it has faux grille aluminum panels that are located just next to the blinkers which adds more taste in its front profile. Hats off to the angular shaped headlight, handlebar and the large rear view mirrors very well placed, which add a bit of flair in its handlebar assembly. Its front mudguard has been carrying pretty sharp features, instead of curves. The scooter employs a silver colored instrument console that carries an analog speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge.
Moreover, there is a small storage space just down below the instrument panel that will allow you to keep small objects such as mobile, wallet, etc. The rear grab rail is designed as well that provides a good support to the passengers. The scooter has foot pegs on both sides for the pillion and even has an openable footrest for the lady passengers. Furthermore, the VX variant of Gusto gets a flip key that will help you to find the scooter in the parking areas. The Gusto certainly attracts attention with its front and rear parts. Such as the front of the scooter is designed well that carries an attractive head light along with two blinkers.
The scooter is designed in well manner that gives an ample and effortless ride. Furthermore, the smooth handle griping and brake lever makes you feel more comfortable. The scooter has radial tyres and drum brakes that comes as standard, while the telescopic forks does a good job as well. Whereas, the coil type hydraulic spring suspension at rear feels stable and confident to the riders.
The scooter has a large foot board that provides a perfect room for the taller riders which makes cornering effortless. The most important and unique feature of the scooter is its adjustable seat, which has been introduced for the first time. The height-adjustable large seat that is pretty much standard, where the seat can be easily adjusted according to the height of the riders and even also gives a perfect room for both, rider and pillion. Thanks to the Mahindra, to provide a larger space for storage below the seat.
Apart from the style, the Gusto gets a brilliant technical specification such as M-TEC engine technology, greater energy ignition coil, strong crankshaft and high inertia magneto that will deal great with wide range activities. Furthermore, the Mahindra uses high capacity 110cc, four-stroke, air-cooled and single cylinder engine in the scooter. Thus, the engine generates a smooth power of 8BHP at 7500RPM, while it makes a peak torque of 0.8KGM at 5500RPM, all the power sent to the rear wheel. The engine comes mated to a CVT transmission.
The company claims that the Gusto will give you a fuel economic ride of 63kmpl in the city areas. The entire technical figure ensures for an ample and vibe free performance, even if you accelerate the speed between to the 65 to 75KMPH, it does not complain. The price of Gusto's DX variant is Rs 43,000 and VX variant is 47,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
