Sometimes back, there were reports that Mahindra's upcoming SUV with the codename S101 could be officially named either CUV100 or XUV100. Now, some recent reports have revealed that the company has registered for a new domain www.mahindraxuv100.com, which confirms that model will be given the moniker XUV100. It will be slotted below the upcoming TUV300 and will be arriving in the market soon thereafter. This sub-4m vehicle will be carried on a monocoque platform and will offer a high ground clearance. The exterior look will flaunt 15-inch wheels, projector headlamps along with a captivating grille borrowed from XUV500.
Apart from its 3+3 seating configuration, it will be fitted with a piano black dashboard and an audio system with touchscreen interface that will be compatible with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Further, the interior will highlight leather upholstery, dual tone color combination and a steering wheel containing audio controls on it. Rear portion will be spacious while the boot capacity will be less and air condition vents will be placed in a vertical manner. Safety features like EBD, ABS, EPS and dual front airbags are likely to be available with the top end variant.
Coming to the mechanical terms, it will be configured with a 1.2 litre engine in diesel as well as petrol versions. The petrol mill will be efficient enough to return 18-19 km/l of mileage, while the diesel motor will be delivering around 22-23 km/l of fuel efficiency. Power will be transmitted though a 5-speed manual gearbox alongside an AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission) facility.
The price range for this upcoming model is expected to be fixed at INR 4.5 to 6.5 Lacs (ex-showroom) and its manufacturing will take place in Pune. It will be combating for market share with the famous Ford EcoSport model.
