Mahindra and Mahindra is continuously working on various SUVs for Indian automobile market. In addition to the same segment, the company has been decided to introduce XUV500 in two variants including a hybrid and an automatic variant. We don't have much information about the former, but automatic variant is likely to be launched at the beginning of 2016. The brand is already selling the six-speed automatic gearbox in the Scorpio model.
Mahindra XUV500 automatic is expected to be packed with the 2.2 liter mHawk engine that develops the power of 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. Furthermore, this SUV is featured with a disc brake on all 4-wheels each. Coming to the safety front, this automatic car comes with Six airbags (front, side and curtain), electronic stability program (ESP), ABS with EBD, Hill Descent and Hill Hold Control.
The company has not disclosed many features yet, but as per the market report, it will be carrying logo-projection lamps on ORVMs, rear parking system, key less entry, start/stop push button, 7-inch infotainment system. Apart from this, the driving seat can be automatically adjusted in six ways. At present, the company is working on its ongoing projects i.e. TUV300, TUV500 and CUV100, because of which, XUV500 has been delayed for some time.
Currently, the model is available in the market with a 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder mHawk140 diesel engine that generates 140Hp/330Nm of output. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and mileage on offer is 15 km/l. The automaker known for its rough and tough vehicles is presently promoting its upcoming TUV300 with aggressive marketing strategy.
