Mahindra Working Upon New 4 Door Variant of e20

Mahindra's electric car e20 is the sole successful player in its segment that has carved a niche for itself in India. After conquering the domestic market, now the company is gearing up to cater to the foreign countries as well. In an interview with the media persons, the Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, Mr Pawan Goenka has confirmed that a new variant of e20 is under works, which will have 4-doors and will be introduced in the European markets. A distribution outlet will be set up in UK while the production will take place in India.

There are speculations that the car will be ready for sale by June-July 2016. Although, nothing has been confirmed officially, it is believed that the new 4-door electric model could be made available in India as well. Having a compact size, the cabin will not be roomy just like the current one. However, a transition from 2-doors to 4-doors would possibly help in serving a wider customer base.

Since government has coined in the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) initiative, the sales for e20 have grown double of what it were earlier. Mahindra has reportedly joined hands with Lithium (Bengaluru based car rental firm) and it has further plans of dealing with other such firms in locations like Pune and New Delhi. It is pretty evident that the automaker is very keen on capitalising gains from these strategies so as to emerge as a winner nationally as well as internationally.
