Mahindra has launched a new entry-level W3 variant of the XUV500. The company asks for the pricing of INR 12.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for this base variant of the XUV500. These price figures make the XUV500 highly competitive and accessible as compared to others in its segment. It is a full-sized SUV offering with advanced features. As soon as possible, the W3 variant would hit the dealerships across India.
Earlier than the W3, the W5 was the base variant of the Mahindra XUV500 which was available on sale at the price tag of INR 12.80 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). As compared to the W5 variant, the W3 XUV500 costs INR 56k cheaper.
The technical specifications of the Mahindra XUV500 W3 will continue to be the same as it is powered by the identical 2.2-litre mHawk155 Diesel engine performing powering duties on the W5 variant. The churned power figures from the said mill stand at 155hp along with 360NM of peak torque. While the power transmission will be handled by the 6-speed manual transmission.
In terms of safety, the XUV500 W3 trim gets dual front airbags, all wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD as standard. Though it’s a base variant still it can\'t be considered any lower in terms of features with the mid variant the W5 trim. Among other, the base variant the W3 comes packed with projector headlamps, power adjustable ORVMs, Engine Immobilizer, electrically operated dual HVAC, electric dual climate control, jacquard fabric upholstery, etc.

The Mahindra XUV500 W3 which has become the base trim now went under the knife for a host of cosmetic changes. All the chrome inserts on the exterior of the W5 trim are not provided with the new variant. Well, the W3 trim continues with the same fascia but the LED DRL from the headlamps has been excluded and replaced with the projector type unit from the manufacturer. In addition to this, the chrome grille on the W5 trim has been replaced with grey finish one on the W3 trim. Also, it drives on 17-inch steel wheels without wheel caps. The black masking on the door pillars has also been excluded on this new entry-level trim along with the rear washer and wiper.
Moving inside the cabin, besides the introduction of fabric seat upholstery the whole cabin continues to be the same. Also, the company did not offer an audio system on the W3.

The Mahindra XUV500 W3 trim will go in competition with the Tata Harrier in this price segment and definitely affect the latter’s sales figures. Earlier when Tata launched the Harrier against the XUV500 W5, the latter was feeling the heat but now with this entry-level W3 trim, the XUV500 could witness good sales figures in coming future.
