When Maruti Ciaz was launched in October 2014, it emerged as a successful car in the compact sedan segment. The appearance of actor Ranveer Singh in the commercials also helped the brand to gain a lot of attention from the audience. Further, the model was able to register a high sales growth that enabled it to rank among one of the top mid-sized sedans in India. After performing reasonably well for sometime, the sales figure gradually began to drop. As a result, the company came up with the idea of hybrid version, which will soon be launched in the next few weeks.
The model will be named as Ciaz SHVS and will make use of hybrid technology that utilises both diesel motor and electric battery to generate power. The lithium ion battery has been integrated with starter generator that can efficiently produce a considerable amount of power. This system provides assistance in regulating the start stop technology implying that the engine will be stopped automatically when the car is stuck in a traffic jam. As soon as you release the clutch, the engine will start and hence you will get to save a lot of fuel through this mechanism.
This hybrid model delivers dual benefit of power as well as efficiency. It offers 30 km/l of mileage that is the best figure to be returned by any sedan model particularly in India. As for now the fuel efficiency of current Ciaz model is rated at 26.21 km/l while the maximum efficiency on offer is 27.62 km/l that is delivered by Celerio model.
