Maruti launches AMT technology on Wagon R and Stingray models

With Diwali on the threshold India's leading vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki has gifted its buyers with an AMT version of its two hatchback variants namely Maruti Wagon R and Stingray. The Auto Gear Shift (AGS) feature is now available in VXi variants of both the Wagon R and Stingray.

Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Stingray now also get a handful of safety features including driver and co-driver airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The aforementioned safety features are optional across all variants of the Wagon R and Stingray.

Mr. R.S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, MSIL quoted "Wagon R is one of the strongest brands in the Indian car market and it has been one of the top five selling cars in the country. After Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Alto K10 Wagon R will be the third brand from our portfolio to get the acclaimed Auto Gear Shift technology."

Under the hood, both the AMT variants of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Stingray are equipped with the same 998cc three-cylinder K10 petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and produces 68PS of maximum power at 6200rpm and pumps 90Nm of peak torque at 3500rpm. The AMT variants see no change in fuel efficiency and continue to return 20.51 km/l.

Maruti Suzuki Stingray

On the exterior front, the two variants are almost identical, since as similar to Wagon R, Stingray too sports, new projector headlamps which look quite nice, stylish reflector grille, which lends a trendy look to the Stingray, side skirts, gunmetal Grey colored alloy wheels which adds character to this hatchback, chrome plated tail lamps and chrome backdoor garnish with ‘Stingray’ prominently embossed on it.
