Maruti Suzuki has brought up a recent addition in the Baleno lineup named Zeta Petrol variant which comes mated to a automatic transmission. The variant has been priced at INR 7.47 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The hatchback is equipped with a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) unit and offers all other mandatory accessories found on the manual Zeta variant. Previously, the CVT was offered with the Delta mid-variant only.
Introducing the new Zeta variant, R. S. Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said,” Baleno has rapidly found success to become a popular premium hatchback owing to its design, technology and performance. We are thankful to customers for the support and continue our efforts to improve its availability. The automatic option – Continuous Variable Transmission – offered on the Delta variant has been much appreciated by the customers. We are now offering CVT on the Zeta variant as well, to popularise two pedal technologies. ”
Maruti Suzuki has successfully delivered over 44,000 Balenos to its customers since its debut in October last year. Moreover, the automaker still holds a pre-booking for 55,000 units. The carmaker is going global with the Baleno model and looks keen in expansion opportunity off shores. The first batch of India-made Baleno was exported to Suzuki's domestic market – Japan. Thereafter, the carmaker is planning to export the model to other countries.
The 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine variants of the Baleno propels a maximum power output of 83 bhp, while the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit propels 74bhp. Both the engines come paired to a common five-speed manual transmission as standard and the CVT option is available on some selected variants.
