Maruti, on account of strengthening customers satisfaction and trust on the brand, has announced a free service campaign for the inspection and updating of the new update ABS actuator software to its almost 3,757 units of Maruti Baleno premium hatchback. The cars manufactured between December 6, 2019, to February 4, 2019, would be included to be offered with such benefit.
The Maruti brand confirmed that this campaign is not a part of any recall, but as per the construction and working of the said model, there is no mechanism for safety implication to the user in case of any defect occurring in the car. Talking regarding this campaign, the Company clarified that such campaigns are being undertaken by OEMs all over the world. The motive behind is to rectify the safety-related issues prevailing in cars which causes inconvenience to customers.
As per this service campaign, the local dealers would be contacting the owners of the cars of the affected batch. The ABS actuator software code of the cars would be inspected and updated if required. Understanding in detail, the actuator which is composed of a hydraulic component, in communication with the ECU on a real-time basis, ensures that the brake pressure regulation is in line with what is required for optimum performance. The Company has not confirmed about the time in which the software update would be completed for the affected cars, but being just a software update, it will hardly take a couple of minutes.

It should be noted that in the month of January 2019, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno had undergone a minor facelift, which ensures that major units of the cars which fall under the effect of this service campaign would be the ones which are already updated and there will be no requirement for such an update.
The facelift in 2019 Baleno includes a slight revise in the front grille with a new 3D pattern. Again, a new front bumper, projector headlamps in Delta variant, new alloy wheel pattern, and new detailing for the taillights are some of the newly added features to the facelift. The Brand now offers the facelifted Maruti Baleno models in Two new colour options, i.e, Magma and Phoenix Red.
Infotainment & Safety
Regarding the infotainment system, the cabin receives new fabric and new generation SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system along with numerous new features.
When we talk about the safety features, it includes a speed-alert system, reverse parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat restraint system, etc.

Engine Option and Strength
The new facelifted Maruti Baleno has BS-IV engine lineup with a 1.2-litre petrol motor which produces a power of 83 bhp and 115 Nm torque. Whereas, the variant in the diesel 1.3-litre unit is good to offer a power of 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque.
There is a 5-speed manual transmission offered as a standard across the lineup but the petrol variant is also offered with a CVT option.
Pricing
The new facelifted 2019 Maruti Baleno is priced between INR 5.45 lakhs to 8.77 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Competitors
Hyundai Elite i20 and VW Polo are the chief competitors of this premium hatchback.
Future plan
It is expected that later this year the company would be unveiling Tata Altroz in this segment.
