Just last month, Maruti Vitara Brezza was rolled out in the market at the starting price of INR 6.99 Lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and the competitors instantly turned cautious about their own sales. In fact Ford EcoSport had slashed the prices by INR 1.12 Lacs so as to retain its position. Though this helped the utility vehicle to attain a milestone of 68.9% growth in its sales, but ultimately Vitara Brezza has emerged as the winner.
As per the recent reports, EcoSport sold 4,456 units in March which was the highest in the last 16 months. However, Brezza has sold an unbeatable 5,563 units in its first month itself, thereby beating the former by 1107 units. If we talk about pricing, Vitara is being offered with just diesel engine priced at INR 6.99 Lacs that reaches to INR 9.54 Lacs (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi). Comparing this to EcoSport, it's diesel variant named Ambiente 1.5L TDCi starts at INR 7.29 Lacs and goes up to INR 9.75 Lacs (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Even though the petrol variant of EcoSport is now priced at INR 6.68 Lacs, but the diesel is still pricier than that of Brezza's base model. If only they had slashed the prices of diesel trims a little, things could have turned in their favour. Well, it's just the starting for Vitara Brezza and it seems like the vehicle is going to break a lot more records in the months to come.
