Mazda has officially announced that it is planning to showcase a new concept model for its upcoming model. This model is named as 'Koeru' and will be introduced as the next crossover after the brand's popular CX-5 and CX-9 cars. The concept model will be previewed at Frankfurt Auto Show to be held in September, this year. This concept has been designed by company's lead designer Mr Luca Zollino in Germany. The brand has not come up with any concept models since it introduced Shinari Kodo design at LA Auto Show held in 2010, but now the brand seems to be back in business.
Mazda's Kodo design has been used in the conceptualisation of this vehicle. It will have the capacity to occupy seven passengers at a time. The SkyActiv technology which has been equipped in the recently introduced MX-5 model, has also been put to use in this upcoming crossover.
The sketch that has been released by Mazda suggests that this crossover is going to feature a larger size than the CX-5 model. It will stand on gigantic and newly designed alloys and it will be loaded with a lot of stylish features. It might also be equipped with the same motor that does duty on Mazda 3 hatchback model. This powertrain carries a 2.5 litre unit that is clubbed with a 6-speed transmission system that is available in both automatic and manual versions.
As this model will be launched only in selective markets, its launch in India is not certain. It will be rivaling the likes of BMW X3 and X4.
