Mercedes-AMG is expanding its GT family with the introduction of the new GT Roadster and GT C Roadster. Based on existing Mercedes-AMG GT, the new soft-top sports cars are likely to be showcased at the approaching 2016 Paris Motor Show.
One of the most powerful convertibles offerings in the global market, the GT Roadster, and GT C Roadster are featuring the Merc’s all new V8 biturbo engine. From the loaded 4.0-litre twin turbo engine, the former is capable of generating 476 bhp and delivering 465lb ft with the mated seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive system. While the latter, the top end variant- GT C Roadster churns power of 557 bhp and torque of 520lb-ft with the same transmission facility.

The three layered soft top roof which is using magnesium/steel/aluminum structure can easily perform open and close operation just in 11 seconds at the cruising speed up to 50 Kmph, as claimed. For rollover protection, the company has featured an integrated aluminum cross-member with rollover bars.
Comparatively, the top end- GT C Roadster’s smashed power output is 28 bhp lesser than the AMG GT R and 47bhp more than the AMG GT S. it can complete the 0-100Kmph sprint just in 3.7 seconds and can hit the claimed top speed of 316kmph. While the base AMG GT Roadster, can get this 0-100kmph sprint in 4 seconds and max-speed of 302kmph. The included advanced technologies borrowed from the GTR model are active rear axle steering and the electronically handled rear axle locking differential. Moreover, they are also furnished with AMG Ride Sport Suspension.
With the addition of these two new models, the GT family will enlarge from 3 to 5 members in the lineup. As far as prices are concerned, the base GT Roadster will be tagged with the price sticker of around £100,000 (Rs 86.48 lakh), while the GT C Roadster in comparison, will be priced more premium.
