Mini Convertible Officially Revealed in Images

Ahead of its unveiling at upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, the Mini Convertible has been revealed in images. It will be the fourth model to be added in the lineup that currently consists of a three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback and the recently launched Clubman. Being the third generation convertible, it is bigger in size than the existing version and also features several changes. In terms of style, it possesses a fresh look with the presence of single frame grille, revamped headlights, heavily raked windscreen, and a large tail lamp cluster alongside a wider boot at the rear.

This model stands at 3821 mm in length, 1727 mm in width and 1415 mm tall. These dimensions are more than that of the previous version by 98mm, 44 mm and 7 mm respectively. The width of the rear seats has grown by 34 mm, whereas the rear legroom has expanded by 36mm. The boot capacity is measured at 215 litres, when the top is removed, whereas it reduces to 160 litres with the hood stowed. Inside, there will be features like rear parking distance control, reverse camera, and a 6.5-inch multimedia screen with USB as well as Bluetooth connectivity.

Powering the new Mini will be an engine lineup including three options that are two petrol and one diesel unit. For the petrol mill, one would be a 1.5 litre, 3-cylinder unit that makes 134 Bhp and another would be a 2 litre unit with 189 Bhp of output. Moving on to the diesel variant it will be packed with a 1.5 litre, three-cylinder unit, capable of generating 114Bhp. Transmission will be handled by a six-speed facility found in both manual and automatic guise.
