New Generation Innova Likely to be Previewed Next Month

After disclosing its plan to come up with the next generation Fortuner, Toyota seems to be gearing up with the new generation Innova model. A report has emerged suggesting that the automaker is going to display the new version of this MUV at the upcoming Jakarta Auto Show, scheduled to take place in October. However, its Indian premier is supposed to be done at 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Carried on the new TMGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, this model will be more stiff and light weighted. Further, it will measure longer as compared to the existing Innova.

The design cues will be borrowed from the likes of Altis, Camry and Highlander offered in the company lineup.The fascia will get a revamped two-slat grille with chrome inserts along with large headlamps sweeping backwards housing a pair of barrel projectors. Further, the front end will boast off LED daytime running lights, refreshed fog lamps and a revised bumper. Other elements include multi-layered boot lid, all new tail lights and not to forget the prominent wheel arches.

Inside the cabin, several changes have been made to impart a new look to the interiors. The features include modified center console with touch screen interface, new upholstery, climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, etc. For safety, it receives Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control, seven airbags and reverse camera.

Discussing the mechanical configuration, it is packed with a new 2.4 litre GD motor that will be tuned to churn out 148 Bhp and 400 Nm of output. This engine will be integrated with a six-speed manual gearbox along with an optional automatic transmission facility.
