Korean carmaker, Kia has rendered an upcoming subcompact crossover model, the Stonic. A few weeks earlier, the Hyundai, sister organization of Kia, has launched an evidently similar car to Stonic, the kona in the global market. The Stonic is slated to showcase at the frankfurt motor show in September this year. While its global launch is probable sometime in 2018.
Besides unveiling the car, the manufacturer did not disclose any of its specifications. However, the expectations are that this new Kia Stonic will share powertrains and dimensions from the Hyundai Kona. the offered powertrains options for this subcompact crossover will be both petrol and diesel engines. It is also expected Kia could offer plug-in hybrid power in coming future. However, the four-wheel drive availability is a suspected attribute.
From the images, the revealed exterior of Stonic is blessed with a muscular bonnet and a ‘tiger nose’ grille decorated with angular headlights and daytime running LED lights. While, the swooping roofline, flared wheel arches, and large alloy wheels offer a sportier appeal to the crossover.
Inside the cabin, the Stonic will be featured with cutting edge technological equipment such as a floating central infotainment display.
Kia has already confirmed that Stonic will be rolled out for the Indian masses but when Kia will start producing Stonic at its projected Andhra Pradesh facility which it will start with a huge investment of a US$1.1 billion (around Rs 6,949 crore). Altogether it’s launch in the country is still in darkness.
