New Maestro Edge Could be the Production Version Hero Dash

A few years back, there are very few companies who have taken part in the scooter segment competition. At the time of its inception in the Indian market, TVS Motor Company, Hero Motocorp, Honda Motorcycles, Suzuki were some of the leading competitors of the segment. Honda has introduced the segment leader, Honda Activa scooter and since then it has become the most popular two-wheeler among every age group in the country. The Hero Motocorp has also introduced its Maestro, which is also doing well in grabbing a high number of sales.

Talking about the upcoming product from the Hero Motocorp, the firm has showcased its all new Dash scooter at the Auto Expo, 2014. From this Indian two-wheeler giant, it would be the third competitor against the Honda Activa; after the Hero Maestro and Pleasure. There are several other occasions when the Hero Dash scooter was being spied while it was being tested at various places. A few months ago, the under-production Hero Dash has made its appearance at the Hero Motocorp’s Gurgaon located facility. However, the final name of the upcoming scooter was still in question.

Mechanically, the upcoming scooter is expected to get powered by a single-cylinder motor configuration carrying an engine displacement of 111cc. The air-cooled motor is tuned to generate a maximum power of 8.4 BHP @ 7500 RPM and reaches a maximum torque of 9.4 Nm @ 5750 RPM. The 111cc displaced engine is coupled with a CVT transmission. The manufacturer will probably be introducing the Integrated Braking System (IBS) for efficient braking.

Besides all these things going on, we’ve got some speculations about the name of the upcoming scooter. It would probably be christened as Maestro Edge, and will be expected to carry much sportier looks than the original version. Cosmetically, the upcoming scooter would be blessed with dual-tone paint scheme over the bodywork and rear-view mirrors, storage box at the front, USB mobile charger, side-stand indicator, grey colored exhaust cover, service reminder, boot light, tubeless tyres and LED tail-light.

The upcoming Hero Maestro Edge would be expected to carry a price tag of Rs 55,000 (Ex-Showroom) approx and might me readying for its official appearance by the end of the fiscal year, 2015.
