The Indian arm of the French carmaker Renault has ultimately introduced the 2017 model year iteration of its compact SUV, Captur in the country. The model is on sale at an introductory price amount of INR 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While, the range-topping Platine diesel variant that is exclusive to the Indian market is priced at INR 13.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). To a recall, mentioned prices are introductory and will be revised in coming future. The Renault Captur is the second compact SUV from the automaker post the Duster in the Indian lineup and will be placed above the later model. In terms of rivalry, the car will go in competition with the segment’s bestseller, the Hyundai Creta.
Globally, the model is on sale with two different initials in the moniker. In India, the Captur name initializes with ‘C’ similar to the European trim. While, the Russian version uses ‘K’ in its name. Following the brand’s global design philosophy, the crossover Captur is launched as a premium offering. The design is unique with bold grille and centre placed diamond logo. Overall the crossover that comparatively sits longer but is narrow and short than its sibling, Duster in dimensions, looks smart and trendy. Besides, it has an excellent ground clearance of 210mm.
Other likable attributes at the skin comprise full LED headlamps with the dynamic LED turn indicators, massive C-shaped LED DRLs and neatly placed all-LED wraparound tail lights. The SUV runs on 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels on the top trims.
Moving inside, Renault Captur that gets dual-tone black and white theme work look premium with the incorporation of upmarket materials and features. There is a large touchscreen infotainment system with gloss black outlines placed on the centre console. Also, the sharp twin-pod instrument console with digital display seems futuristic.

The top end Platine version which is being offered with personalization options as per your suite uses gold and white inserts in the cabin. The onboard features include auto climate control, navigation, steering mounted controls and more. However, the demanding Android Auto and Apple CarPlay options even in this range-topping Platine Version have been missed out by the carmaker.
The provided safety features as standard fitments on the latest Renault Captur comprise dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.
Renault is supplying the 2017 Captur in both diesel and petrol options. The 1.5-litre K9k diesel engine churns out the maximum power of 108 bhp at 4000 rpm and peak power of 240 Nm at 1750 rpm. The said mill comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. While, the 1.5-litre petrol unit that comes associated with a 6-speed manual transmission as similar to its Duster sibling, coughs out 104 bhp at 5600 rpm and 142 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. None of the variants is being offered with AMT option but expected to get the same in coming future.
