Geely, the new offering from the Chinese Automaker Lynk & Co was unveiled at an event in Amsterdam. In order to lure sports car lovers, the Chinese carmaker has offered The 02, which will be powered by electrified powertrains. Other offerings include the bigger 01 SUV and a saloon called the 03.
A three-cylinder 1.5-litre engine from the Volvo XC40 will power The 02. The 02 will go on sale internationally by 2020 and will be available in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid form. The fully electric version will most likely hit the road by 2021. A fully electric version is planned, but it is unlikely to arrive before 2021. It will be powered by the same electric motor as the forthcoming XC40 EV. Lynk & Co are owned by the same parent company that owns Volvo. The new 02 has been planned specifically with the European market in mind.
Borrowing from the Volvo XC40, the 02 rests on the same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. CMA is highly adjustable. Compared to its siblings, the 02 gets a shorter wheelbase and lower ground clearance. The stiffer rear suspension and the wider rear track grants it the much-desired sports avatar. The new sports offering will come in two color variants and a limited number of \'personas\' instead of trims.

Lynk & Co has added new feathers to its already rock-solid reputation with a strong focus on in-car connectivity. The touchscreen infotainment systems get bigger and better. The 02 also claims to have the ‘world’s first in-car share button’. However, it will not adorn traditional trim levels and options that car lovers have associated with yesteryears offerings.
The production of 02 will take place in Ghent, Belgium. It is the same factory where Volvo’s are built. The 02 will be designed keeping in mind the European handling tastes. The driving experience will the best in its class. Interestingly, Lynk & Co\'s seems to be treading on new lines for its future offerings. The carmaker recently collaborated with online designer retailer Tictail to focus on \'globally connected urbanites\' and launch a new series of offerings called the \'The City Dweller Series\'.
