New Suzuki GSX-R150 Classic Racing Edition Revealed Ahead its Launch Next Month

The new Suzuki GSX-R150 is a full fairing iteration of the Suzuki GSX-R15. It is a special edition model which is developed in order to celebrate the anniversary of the GSX-R15. The Classic Racing Edition has been revealed along with its specs ahead of its launch that is scheduled to take place in next month at the GIIAS 2018 in Indonesia.

The new Classic Racing Edition will be rolled out in a unique dual tone white and blue livery. Whereas, the powering for this special classic racing edition will come from the 150cc engine that performs propelling duties on the ongoing GSX-R150. The single-cylinder, fuel injected engine is being said to generate the peak power of 19.17hp at 10,500 rpm and will deliver the maximum torque of 14Nm to the rear wheel at 9,000 rpm.

As compared to the Yamaha R15 that is on sale in India, the new Suzuki GSX-150R will churn out little less as the former one spits out 19.3PS at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm at 8,500rpm. While the power transmission on both the bikes is handled by a six-speed gearbox.

Dimensionally, the bike will measure 2020 mm in length, 700mm in width, 1,075mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,300mm. The equipment such as the LED lights, digital instrument console, disc brakes, and ABS will be the major highlights of the bike. However, the safety of ABS will be featured as an optional extra.
Design wise, the new GSX-R150 shares design cues from its elder siblings in the global lineup. However, the recently introduced GSX-R125 and GSX-R250 appear similar to the sportier new Classic Racing Edition.

The Suzuki does not produce the GSX-R150 for the Indian market. In the 150cc segment, the country has Gixxer which is the highest sales generator for the brand. The Gixxer twins get the propelling power of 14.8PS at 8,000 rpm along with 14Nm at 6,000 rpm, from the bolted 154.9cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Although, reportedly, it has been found that the brand has the plan of updating Gixxer next year as the model will complete five years in India since launch.
