The Volvo XC40 introduced in India with a price tag of Rs. 39.9 lakh. It is the smallest compact luxury SUV from the Volvo brand and makes the Volvo line-up more equipped now. Manufactured on the CMA platform, the SUV has already booked with more than 80,000 units worldwide.
The XC40 is equipped with many features and a top-class diesel engine which is able to generate a peak power of 187 bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm with an affordable price tag.
Volvo is a brand which always builds bulletproof and durable cars. Although, with the introduction of the XC40, people are confused over the purchase of used XC60 or brand new XC40 to buy. Let\'s compare both the luxury SUVs from Volvo and tag the difference between them.
Characteristics:
Obviously, the XC40 has a much better appearance and comes loaded with many features, delivers better fuel efficiency also. The 9-inch Sensus touchscreen setup takes responsibility of all in-car operability. It has a 13 speakers Harman Kardon sound system of 600 watt, sub-woofers and fewer buttons on the dashboard. Further, it also has an electric tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and spacious storage space. Coming to the safety it takes ABS, radar-oriented driver assistance system and 7 airbags.
When we compare the older XC60 with newly launched XC40, it doesn’t have that many features, however, it saves ABS, Harman Kardon system, and airbags.
Price Tag:
Whenever we go to buy a car, one question always in our mind is the price range. As we couldn’t go out of pocket, so we always set a limit in mind before buying a vehicle. The Volvo XC40 is available at Rs. 39.9 lakh in the starting and may raise the price after the first batch vacates. On the other side, the old-gen Volvo XC60 is priced at Rs. 22 lakh.

The mid-spec XC60 2013 model along with a D5 diesel engine option is available with Kinetic trim priced Rs. 22 lakh, a top-variant XC60 D5 Inscription is priced Rs. 36 lakh. Therefore, you can see clearly that the Volvo XC60 is priced reasonably lower than the newly introduced XC40.
Which Should You Buy?
Now, it is clear that which one you should buy. Obviously, go for a new model, Volvo Xc40 as much as possible. But, if your budget is not that much high to buy a Volvo XC40 at Rs. 40 lakh, then you can go for the used Volvo XC60. Before purchasing the used Volvo XC60, make sure that you checked out the SUV at an authorized Volvo service centre in case of any sort of neglect and damage signs. Else, it is better to go for a new one rather than going for a used one model.
