The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is will be launching on 23rd January 2019 as per the reports by several portals and sources. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R which was required to have a full model change seems to get updated. Sooner in 2019, it will be showcased at Maruti Arena showrooms in 2019. Few of its images have leaked online which makes us believe as of the market ready variant of next-generation Wagon R. Do not confuse these images with the Wagon R-based electric hatchback which is under homologation process in India. These are the images of the India-spec model with a combustion engine. Here, the hatchback will be offered with two engine options- CNG and petrol.
In terms of looks, the Wagon R is different as compared to the foreign model. The Indian model has a slab-sided tall-boy look. The design of the Wagon R is also reconsidered to make it a more rounded at the edges, and offer a more upmarket appeal.

The headlights are now round and larger units as compared to the previous version featuring flat-faced unit. The bonnet is curvier. In addition to this, the large glasshouse at the sides gives a great look to the Wagon R DNA and even the wing-mirrors are more in-line which makes it appealing. Same like the Ertiga, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R contains the floating-roof styling which gives it a look. At the front, the subtle creases, the doors, and rear fenders make it look more attractive.
At back, same like the previous-gen Honda CR-V, the Wagon R has a pillar mounted tail-lamps which are slightly larger. The rear styling is much better now and the vertical tail-lamps resembles a crossover.
The platform of the new Wagon R will be based on the platform of the older model cars which will clear the crash test norms. The present 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol powertrain will continue but for better improvement, it will be adjusted electronically. Right after the launch, Maruti will offer the CNG option along with an AMT automatic option. In the top versions of Wagon R, Maruti will also add the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system.
