Ford is reportedly going to bring the next generation Figo hatchback in the market, which will be arriving for sale by the end of this month. Just like the Aspire sedan, this car will also be manufactured at company's production facility located in Sanand, Gujarat. Interestingly, the recently launched Aspire has been doing quite well and the automaker is aiming at maximizing the profits further by replacing the outdated hatchback with a new one. It has even called off the present version of Figo along with some other loss making cars in the lineup.
As per the spied images, this upcoming vehicle will be shedding out most of the styling elements that were found in the base spec trim and will be upgraded with several modifications. It is likely to sport the look similar to the Ford Ka model that is being sold particularly in the Brazilian market.
From outside, the front end is likely to get re-designed headlights sweeping backwards, large grille inspired from Aston Martin models and body colored wing mirrors. The tail lights at the rear end along as well as the bumper is also expected to be revamped. As we move to the interior, the cabin will flaunt a multi-functional steering wheel with audio controls, Sync 2 infotainment facility and automatic control. Besides these, safety features like ABS, EBD, dual front airbags and rear parking sensors will also be fitted in this next generation hatchback.
Mechanical configuration of this car will comprise either a 1.2 litre petrol or 1.5 litre diesel motor producing 88 PS and 100 PS respectively. Power will be transmitted to the wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox, which will be standard across the range. Later on, the 1.5 litre powertrain that does duty on the Aspire might also be fitted with this model.
