Tata Motors famous Sumo ground utility vehicle is due for a complete overhaul and this time the design pattern would be very light weight to make sure that car stands in the competition among others in the market with some significant difference as well. The new car will be based on the platform which has been given the codename Raptor and the interesting thing about this new name is that the Sumo next generation will neither be a monocoque nor a body-on-frame structure. This new development caused a bit of trouble for the engineers, but at last they were able to manage the things quite effectively.
Talking about the details, this new platform has allowed engineers to join the frame to chassis via means of welding and hence giving the much-needed flexibility and strength as well. With this new technology used, this UV will carry a heavier frame to maintain its off-road capabilities and would be challenging other vehicles available in the market. Tata also changed the name of its Sumo Grande with Movus last year and this re-named vehicle along with the regular Sumo generates around 1200 unit sales volume per month.
Coming to the launch date, the new Sumo might be available after 3 years from now with the expected price range of INR 6-9 Lac ex-Showroom. Well, that's a lot of time left to talk and anticipate this car, so just stay tuned with us for the more information on it.
