Nissan Premium SUV To Introduce In India

Nissan is working hard this time as it has been sweating for car sales. The introduction of the Datsun, however, helped in building some combined sales figures. But, now seems like the brand is losing steam now.

Last year, Datsun and Nissan came together to work as a group and recorded an eight percent decline in the annual number sales, during the time when the industry grew by 8%. This is not a good thing for a company tracking 5% market share in India which has a strongly competitive market.

One of the reasons is the old car series from Nissan India. The big product was the launch of the Terrano in 2013, keeping aside the introduction of the GT-R in 2016 as sales were not much affected by it. Nissan now considers the same and is thinking to compensate for previous launches, starting with the introduction of the Nissan Kicks by next year end.

The Kicks, a mid-sized family-oriented SUV which showcased in Brazil in 2016 and the India-spec version is long awaited since then.

The available Nissan Kicks in the global market uses the V platform, although also maintains the cost under check, Nissan will launch the India-bound Kicks based on B0 platform of Duster. The India-spec Kicks is likely to get the powertrain similar to the Renault Captur.

It may be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine generating a peak power of 106 PS and a peak torque of 142 Nm and maybe a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine generating a peak power of 110 PS and a peak torque of 240 Nm.

After the launch, the Kicks will go above the Terrano in ranking and be rivaling the Maruti Suzuki S Cross, Renault Captur, and Hyundai Creta. The entry-level version of Tata H5X which is to launch at the same time will rival the Nissan Kicks top variant. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 9 lakhs to 14 lakhs and also expected to be renamed according to the Indian market as the company mentioned.
