In the month of August, there was a report that Peugeot is very keen on making a comeback to the Indian market with its premium hatchback 208. And now, a recent report by Economic Times suggests that the automaker is eying at cracking a deal with Tata Motors in order to ease its re-entry in the country. This deal is likely to include the sharing of manufacturing facilities along with engines and platforms between the two corporate bodies. Apart from the 208 model, the 308 sedan and 2008 crossover are also lined up for being introduced at Indian shores.

It is speculated that Tata's production plant located in Sanand could possibly be utilised by PSA Peugeot Citroen. This facility was planned for the manufacturing of Tata Nano, which is currently not in use. Although, the sales of Nano have improved lately, still there are no further plans as of now for its production. Talking about the features of premium hatchback 208, it could be powered by a 1 litre or 1.2 litre petrol engine. It will also be fitted with a7-inch infotainment along with an automatic Park Assist facility.
Interestingly, Tata Motors had already tried its hand at entering into a Joint Venture with Fiat, that proved to be a bitter experience for both the entities. Consequently, the partnership came to an end as it could not benefit the firm as planned by the two. We hope that this time, joining hands with the French automaker Peugeot, (in case it happens) proves to be a pleasant journey for both.
