Piaggio India has introduced a special edition Vespa scooter in its Indian product portfolio. Based on the Vespa 125 model, the lately arrived scooter is named as the Vespa RED and priced at INR 87,000 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). For you guys, it’s must be interesting to know the story behind this newcomer’s name. The RED suffix in scooter’s moniker defines about the company which associates with the global brands in order to convey awareness and supports its fight against HIV/AIDS. Available only for the Indian market, the Vespa RED will help in generating revenue to give hand to Global Fund grants that will fight to end AIDS in India.
As the name suggests, the new Vespa RED gets the all-red treatment from tip to toe including plastic panels, seat and other attributes. In addition to that, there is a (Vespa)RED chrome badge on the top left side of the front apron and Piaggio logo at the centre. Besides this new styling and colour option, the scooter follows the design language of the standard Vespa 125. There are chances that company might introduce the same Vespa RED edition in the 150cc segment depending on the demand out there.
Under the seat, the Vespa comes equipped with the engine options of 125cc and 150cc, single-cylinder air-cooled 3 valve engines that come integrated to a CVT gearbox. The power output figures for both the powertrains are something like that 10 bhp and 10.6 Nm of torque, and little more 11 bhp and 11.5 Nm of torque from the 150cc engine option.

The generated revenue uses to support the initiative fight against HIV and AIDS.
Apple is also one of the brands which have collaborated with RED for this cause. While, in India, Vespa is the first automotive brand that came in partnership with (RED). However, in the global market, the Piaggio has already rolled out the RED-branded Vespa for the 946 scooter model.
