Renault is reportedly getting ready to knock out the leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki with the help of its recently launched Kwid. A few days ago, we informed you that the crossover will soon be introduced in a 1 litre version. And now some fresh reports by Economic Times have disclosed that these additional variants will be debuting at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. One of them will be offered with manual transmission, while the other one will be fitted with an AMT unit priced at INR 3.2-INR 3.72 Lacs and INR 4 Lacs respectively.

Coming back to Kwid, it has been performing exceptionally well considering the fact that it's an all new player in the battle ground. It has received more than 80,000 bookings so far and the automaker hopes to cross more than 1,00,000 Lakh bookings by next year with the additional variants. Currently, the ABS is not present in any of the 6 variants and airbags is optional in the to ranging one. However, the 1 litre Kwid will come with both ABS and dual front airbags.

This additional 1 litre Kwid will be targeting the class leading rival Alto K10, which has recorded 175,984 units of sales between April to November, this year. Even Hyundai Eon is a potential threat for Kwid, but Alto has undoubtedly captured the maximum market share. Though it won't be easy to compete with the well established brands, yet the way Kwid is performing, it seems to be a cake walk for the hatch.
