After unveiled in Brazil, the France-based carmaker is all geared to launch an amplified version of its successful hatch, Renault Kwid in India, this month. This upcoming Kwid is a more powerful hatchback, equipped with a 1.0-liter or 1000cc engine and aids of AMT for those who demands for something new.
Renault India Operations Country CEO & Managing Director Sumit Sawhney said,“The Kwid has been widely accepted in the Indian market and we are ready to enhance our offering under the model range by launching a 1.0-litre engine version this month.”

He said that the company has already sold over 75,000 units of the Kwid since its launch in September last year. "With the launch of the 1.0-litre Kwid, we will be further enhancing our offering in the segment and serve customers who are looking for a more powerful vehicle in the entry level segment," Sawhney added.
This latest Kwid will run on a 1.0 litre or a 1000cc petrol engine that is likely to belt out power nearer to 65 hp with the linked five-speed manual transmission. An another AMT variant with AMT box will also be offered. This new Kwid will also come with the safety features of Dual SRS airbags and ABS.

Expected to retain similar design philosophy, the SUV-inspired upgraded Kwid might get a new badge and chrome work on cosmetics end. With the launch, the 1.0-litre Kwid will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, the current market leader in the entry level segment.
On pricing perceptive, refreshed Kwid will carry the price tag in the same bracket as of Maruti Alto K10, which priced in between Rs 3.25 lakh and Rs 4.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
