UM Motorcycles has announced that the Renegade range is all set to mark its entry in the country at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. The company will commence its operations in India by debuting two versions of its first product - UM Commando in the domestic market. Also, it will showcase some more products from its lineup at the forthcoming event, one of them is the Renegade Sport S Cruiser, which was announced at the EICMA Motorcycle show, held last month. The two variants are to be priced between Rs. 1.2 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh.
Multiple versions of the UM Renegade series, which include Renegade Classic, Commando, Duty and Sport are available worldwide. Mechanically, the aesthetic macho cruiser would get its power from a 300cc, single-cylinder engine with a counter-balancer, which is expected to produce 24BHP of power. The cruisers that are to be launched now have perceived some mechanical upgradations as compared to the ones that were showcased at 2014 Auto Expo.
Commando is anticipated to fascinate you with some of its interesting features like blind spot mirrors and USB charging port that can be seen on the international spec model. Talking about the current competitions, Bajaj Avenger range along with the Royal Enfield Thunderbird would be the prime rivals for the debuting cruiser. Lohia Auto, UP-based partner with United Motorcycles will initiate the production at its new plant in Kashipur, Uttrakhand, with the target of producing one lakh units in a year. Making India an export base has also been reported. UM has plans to launch street-fighters and scooters in the country in future, which are already sold overseas.
