The Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer that is noted for its cruiser range of motorcycles across India, has launched a new limited edition model for its entry-level adventure tourer, the Himalayan. The special edition model is christened as the Himalayan Sleet where Sleet refers to ‘rain containing some ice, as when snow melts as it falls.’ It is priced at INR 2,12,666 (on-road, Chennai) and will exclusively be available for bookings online through brand’s website during 12-30 January. The token amount which has to pay to book this new trim is Rs 5000. While the sale of the motorcycle which is put on sale on the first come first serve basis will commence from January 30.
if the differences of this new Royal Enfield Himalayan Sleet Edition is considered from the outgoing model are the new camouflage paint scheme with grey shades and supplying of an additional Explorer Kit. The paint scheme is inspired by the Himalayas while the Explorer Kit is a part of Royal Enfield motorcycle accessories.
The addition of this Explorer Kit to this Limited Edition RE Sleet made it Rs 28,000 more expensive than the standard version. The Kit includes components such as off-road style aluminum handlebar with cross-brace and bar-end weights, pannier mounting rails and an already equipped 26-liter water resistant aluminum panniers along with a powder coat finished engine guard.
Rides on a 21-inch front spoke wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, the Himalayan Sleet will get the propelling power from the same 411 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine of the regular model. The powertrain is rated to generate the maximum power of 24 bhp at 6500 rpm along with 32 Nm of peak torque at 4500 rpm. The most prominent component of the adventure tourer, the suspension is a long-travel suspension. Whereas, for braking the motorcycle is equipped with disc brakes on both front and rear wheel. The dual-purpose tires fitment make it an all-rounder to perform on any kind of roads.
