In row of Royal Enfield updating its product lineup with going to be mandatory update ABS from April 2019, the Thunderbird 350 has become the latest one. The motorcycle has started being available at the dealerships across the country and the company is asking the increased price of INR 1.83 lakhs (on-road, Kolkata). The mentioned price tag includes 5 year insurance in the state.
In terms of modifications, apart from the dual-channel ABS, there are no noticable changes even at mechanical and cosmetic front. Besides affixation of ABS stickers on the front fork. The Indian government’s new safety regulation mandates ABS on bikes with engine displacement over 125cc. With the ABS introduction, the Thunderbird 350 also, now complies with this upcoming BS-VI emission norms affected from April 2019. On the other hand, the two-wheelers below 125cc engine capacity will have to be fitted with Combi-braking system (CBS).

Other than the Thunderbird 350, the X series models of the Thunderbird-the 350X and 500X has also been equipped with ABS. In the row, we can see the Thunderbird 500 to join this voyage in coming future.
The braking setup on the Thunderbird 350 comprises of a 280mm front disc with 2-piston caliper and a 240mm rear unit with single piston caliper. While the propelling unit on this updated Thunderbird 350 ABS is similar to the older model, a 346 cc twin-spark, air-cooled, single-cylinder unit. The mill is rated to make out 19.8bhp along with 28Nm of torque. Whereas, the power transmission to the rear wheel took place via a mated 5-speed gearbox.
Reportedly, the models like Bullet, Classic and Thunderbird have been lined up to get updated for next generation with BS-VI compliant engines, additional features and refreshed design to retain their mettle in the market. As the Jawa Motorcycles is also going to hit the country soon which will be competition for the Royal Enfield trims in sub-500cc segment.
As per the news on the internet, the flagship Royal Enfield 650 twins-Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are set to launch in India tomorrow. And, the Royal Enfield KX Bobber Concept has been displayed at the recently passed 2018 EICMA show.
