The famed cruiser motorcycle manufacturer from Chennai, India. Royal Enfield is working on to upgrade its lineup for more stringent BS-VI emission norms. The two 346cc and a 499cc engine options which perform propelling duties on models such as the Bullet, Classic and Thunderbird trims, will be updated. Whereas, the powertrain with the 650cc displacement of RE Interceptor already serves the rules and regulations of the BS-VI norms. The similar engine further can be used on the Himalayan model.
Above-mentioned engine options clearly hinting that the company is going to modernize its lineup in compliance with BS-IV norms. Also, the 2019 calendar year model will be provided with Anti-Lock Braking System safety. That will be a mandatory feature as per the Indian government on the bikes with engine capacity above 125cc from April 2018.
Royal Enfield, the market leader in the cruiser bike segment produces motorcycles above 125cc and its 350cc Classic is the volume generator for the company. If the company will revive entire lineup for 2019, the price will automatically be increased.
It will generate a good price difference between the models belonging to the 350cc engine displacement category. The Classic and the Thunderbird models will be dearer than the Bullet as it will be armed with a single disc brake. Whereas, the formers will be equipped with dual discs as standard.
Furthermore, we can see the fuel injection system on the brand’s top-selling 350cc models as the powerful REs containing engine option above 500cc is already being provided with fuel injection. Also, it is compulsory to comply with the BS-VI norms.
In this initiative of updating lineup, the 650cc models like the Interceptor and the Continental GT will be the first to attain ABS and fuel-injection as standard. Remaining motorcycles will join further.

It is a great move by one of the top-selling motorcycles in the country, to work on BS-VI standard engines that early. As expected, the initiative will definitely inspire other manufacturers to follow RE’s foot-steps.
