Skoda, the Czech automaker has now brought its Kodiaq SUV live on its official Indian website. The new flagship offering by the company was initially revealed as a concept form named as the Vision S and went into production a few months later. The premium class SUV has been placed above the Superb sedan of the company.
The 4.6-metres SUV will be available with a 7-seat setup for the Indian market. The Kodiaq will be powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine, which has also been used in the Volkswagen Tiguan and is capable of churning out maximum power output of 147 bhp along with 300Nm of peak torque. The power is transmitted to the tyres through a 7-speed DSG transmission unit. Additional features of the SUV include a touchscreen infotainment system, multi-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats and a minimum of six airbags for all variants.
The Skoda Kodiaq is basically built upon the MQB platform, which has also been used to build up Audis, VW Tiguan, Skoda Superb and Octavia. The car will be manufactured at their Aurangabad plant and is expected to be available in the price range of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. The upcoming SUV will be seen competing against the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the soon-to-be-launched Isuzu MU-X.
