Suzuki Baleno, also known as Maruti YRA, is all set to enter Indian car market on October 26. The model has been unwrapped at the Frankfurt Auto Show recently with detailed specs. The production has already started at Maruti's production facility located in Manesar. Being a premium hatchback slotted above Swift, it will be available for sale in the Nexa showrooms like the S-Cross model. It will take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo and Honda Jazz. The base spec trim will be priced at INR 5.25 Lacs, while the top ranging variant will be offered at INR 8.25 Lacs.

It is based on the Suzuki iK-2 concept that has been already revealed by the company. Moreover, certain elements will be borrowed from Swift and S-Cross as well. The front end gets a V-shaped grille housing a mesh pattern that is flanked by a pair of projector headlamps. It also flaunts LED DRLs, LED tail lights, sloping roof line and a distinctive rear bumper. The cabin boasts off a modern infotainment facility with navigation and is trimmed in black color highlighting silver accents.
It is a sub-4m vehicle yet carries a spacious cabin along with a best in class boot capacity of 355 litres. Discussing the mechanical aspect, both diesel and petrol engine options can be availed. A 1.2 litre petrol motor will churn out 83Bhp/115 Nm of maximum output while the 1.3 litre diesel mill will be capable of generating 90 Bhp/200 Nm. Additionally, hybrid version will also be introduced much like the Ciaz sedan. This technology will be integrated with Start/Stop facility that aids in returning better fuel efficiency.
