The scooter market in India is growing up day-by-day. Well, we can say that with proof, as the all-famous Honda Activa has become the first most-purchased scooter in India. The Activa scooter has been awarded as the best-selling scooter of the year. Unlike the Activa scooter from Honda Motorcycles and Scooters Ltd. other companies are also offering a good range of scooters in the Indian market. In this situation, the global automobile manufacturers are also planning to introduce various ranges of scooters in India. In the list of global automobile companies, the first one will be Suzuki Motorcycles.
The Japanese multinational has a line-up to introduce six new two-wheelers in the Indian market and out of the six new-comers, four of them would be scooters. The Suzuki Motorcycles India will be sharing nearly 11-13 percent of shares in the Indian automobile market and also planning to expand its business in the scooter segment.
Atul Gupta, Executive VP of Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd. said and the company's strategy, "We are looking at hitting 7.5 lakh units in production and sales in 3 years and ideally the mix should be 35% motorcycle and 65% scooter sales. Currently the mix is 80:20 in favour of scooters. We expect the volumes to go up to 4.5-5 lakh units in a couple of years but as we add new motorcycle products to our portfolio, the share of bike sales will also go up."
Recently, Suzuki has launched a new 110cc scooter in the market, named Suzuki Let's. And, the marvelous thing is that the newly launched scooter has clocked 15,000 bookings since the month of April, 2014.
Now, let's see who will win the rivalry in the Indian market in the scooter segment and what's new the company will be bringing for us?
