Maruti Suzuki is getting ready for the S-Cross’ launch in India that is going to be held in this ongoing month. Just like the Euro spec version, this crossover will also be powered by the same 1.6 litre DDiS engine. The manufacturer offers its SX4 in the European markets in an AWD configuration known as ALLGRIP and recently, it has been confirmed that a dual clutch automatic gearbox will also be introduced for the UK. This is the first powerful transmission system that is completely made by Suzuki in order to confer the best driving experience for its driver.
The self designed gearbox is known as TCSS (Twin Clutch System by Suzuki) that has a 6-speed unit. It makes the use of an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology, which has been highly appreciated by the customers since last year. Similar to the DSG, this 6-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) includes two hydraulically controlled clutches.
Whereas the one clutch will be capable to control 1st, 3rd and 5th gears, the second clutch will come in use for 2nd, 4th and 6th gears. Additionally, Suzuki is also aiming to introduce the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for those, who prefer to change the gears manually. The Suzuki S-Cross with a Fiat sourced 1.6 litre Multijet engine will be good in making the power outputs of 120 PS and 320 Nm.
With regard to the manual variant, this TCSS model will be 30 kg heavier as a result, its fuel efficiency would be affected by 0.49 km/l. Moreover, it will be priced 1,350 pounds (INR 1.34 Lac) higher than the previous version. There is a bad news for the Indian enthusiasts that the company hasn’t made any plan to bring this TCSS model in our country initially, while the manual version is about to be launched in India very soon in the current month.
