Tata Nano Pelican Spotted Testing for the First Time

It has been just a week when we first reported about Tata's new entry level car, which was highly talked about in the market. But now, the rumour comes into reality when Autocar India has posted the first spied image of this new Tata model, which was captured near Pune. It comes codenamed as Pelican that can also be a part of the facelift of Nano. Once launched, it may be slotted between the GenX Nano and the Tata Tiago, which was recently launched in the Indian auto market.

In spite of the car being heavily disguised, some of the exterior as well as interior features can be seen in the spy shots. As the pictures shown that the vehicle is sitting on the 13-inch tyres against to current 12-inches. On a closer look, you will see that the headlights and bonnet have also been twisted.

What's strange about this car that will surprise you most, its interior. It is equipped with a new dashboard along with a centre console as well as seats have been changed. The speedometer is placed at the centre of the console and features various warning lights. It will be the first time when the Nano will be furnished with an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel instead of the regular centre position.

A new infotainment system has also been integrated with the cabin that is designed by Harman. To make it more comfortable, Tata has also redesigned the AC vents that are similar to ones you had seen in its Tata Tiago, which had garnered more than 15,000 units of booking since its launch

For the time being, we are still in dark about the powertrain, though, it could be powered by a three-cylinder engine, generating a power of 61 Bhp or 81 Bhp. Moreover, it might run with larger tyres and wheels too, as company's chairman said earlier in 2012.
