Come 2020 and Toyota is all set to replace its India-spec Corolla Altis with an all-new BSVI compliant avatar. The new reworked sedan was showcased earlier last year in China. And from the looks of it then, it appeared to borrow its front fascia design from its hatchback sibling. Reportedly, Toyota will simultaneously launch the US and China-bound variants of the Corolla product line. India and China will get the sedan trim while confirmation is still awaited on the looks and design of the US-spec model. Upon launch, the new offering will happen to be the Twelfth-gen Corolla sedan.
The India-spec Corolla will in all probability boast of larger dimensions than the retiring model. The wheelbase at 2700 mm though will remain the same. As far as the platform goes the new Corolla sedan will be offered in a TNGA platform and a hybrid platform too.

Under the hood, Corolla fans might miss the diesel option this time. Instead, a hybrid variant may be on offer. If it happens the Corolla would be the first sedan in its segment with hybrid status. The petrol variant may be powered by a 2.0-liter engine instead of the 1.8-liter capacity engines that power the current line of petrol and diesel Corolla trims.
The current Toyota Corolla variants start from Rs 16.45 lakh price tag to go as high as Rs 20.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). While Corolla has kept the price tag for the new sedan under wraps, experts believe that the hybrid spec variant may make Corolla dearer by a considerable margin (beyond 20 Lakhs). In its segment, it will lock horns with the likes of Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and the soon to be launched new Honda Civic.
