Toyota Glanza that is a premium hatchback offering from the Japanese carmaker has been launched in India at an introductory price tag of INR 7.22 lakh. The purchase of Glanza will provide you Maruti Suzuki Baleno under a different moniker, in fact. One can make a choice from the offered two variants and three engine-gearbox options.
Toyota offers G and V variants for the Glanza which are developed on the basis of Baleno’s Zeta and Alpha trims respectively. The DualJet Smart Hybrid engine option is only loaded under the hood of lower ‘G’ manual variant and the K12B engine for the ‘V’, likewise Baleno. Overall, there are four configurations considering engine and gearbox options including G MT Smart Hybrid, G CVT, V MT, V CVT which are priced with the respective sticker of INR 7.22 lakh, INR 8.30 lakh, INR 7.58 lakh, and INR 8.90 lakh.

There are two petrol engine options for the Toyota Glanza which are BS-VI emission norms compliant as well. The 1.2-litre, K12B and the 1.2-litre, K12C DualJet engine with a mild-hybrid system. The churned out power figures for the respective engines stand at 83hp and 113Nm, and 90hp and 113Nm. The transmission facility here is provided with a 5-speed manual and a CVT unit wherein the CVT unit is being offered with the K12B-engine variants. If the fuel efficiency is considered, the Glanza K12B petrol-MT returns 21.01kmpl, the K12C Smart Hybrid is claimed at 23.87kpl while the same for CVT variant stands at 19.56kpl.
The Toyota Glanza G variants comes packed with features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, a height adjustable driver’s seat, an automatic climate control, navigation and voice command functionality, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, steering-mounted audio controls and push-start stop system. In addition to this, the features which come with Toyota Glanza V trims include Headlights with LED DRLs, UV-cut glass, different LEDs for the taillights, auto headlights with follow-me function, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a reverse camera.

The Glanza is developed under the partnership of Toyota and Suzuki. Other than this, Maruti is expected to roll out products based on the Brezza, the Ciaz and the Ertiga for Toyota. Later, we could also witness the development of hybrid electric vehicles from the same joint venture along with a new C-segment MPV.
The three year/1,00,000km standard warranty is best in class for the Glanza while the Baleno comes with a two year/40,000 km warranty as standard. In the premium hatchback segment, the Toyota Glanza will go against the rivals such as the Hyundai i20, the Honda Jazz and the upcoming Tata Altroz.
