Toyota Innova Crysta 2.7L Petrol Version To be Launched Around Diwali in India

Mr. N Raja, director and senior vice president (sales & marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has confirmed that the new Toyota Innova Crysta 2.7L Petrol will be launched in the Indian market by Diwali this year. The director confirmed this news in an interview with the Financial Express.

Looking to the diesel ban in the delhi region, the automaker is working hard on making a lesser displacement engine, making to market the Innova Crysta in the region. But, the Innova comes with 2000cc engine. Due to the ban, prominent automakers such as Toyota, Mahindra and Mercedes-Benz have been undergoing loss and experiencing drop in sales. Meanwhile, Mahindra has launched the 1.99-liter variant of the Scorpio and XUV500, giving a tough competition to the large SUV makers like Toyota.

Mr. N Raja also confirms that Toyota is indulged into the development of a 2.7-liter petrol engine, and the job is being carried out by Toyota’s R&D engineers based out in Japan. He also stated that the company is likely to bring the petrol variant of the Innova Crysta by Diwali this year.

However, Toyota has been successfully selling the petrol variant of the Crysta SUV in the Indonesian market and Middle East. In Indonesia, it is available with a 2.0-liter 1 TR-FE 16-valve DOHC Dual VVT-i petrol engine, while the the Middle East-spec Innova Crysta comes with a powerful 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol engine based on Dual VVT-i technology.The engines are paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the 2.7L engine is claimed to produce 164 PS at 5,200 rpm and 25 kg-m of torque at 4,000 rpm. While, the 2.0-liter unit delivers 139 PS of maximum power and 18.7 kg-m of torque.

According to the recent reports, the Toyota Innova Crysta has successfully registered 15,000 bookings with a two month waiting period in India.
