The entry-level performance motorcycle segment which serves bikes with engine displacement 200cc has changed the buying habitats of Indian audience with youth in the majority. It provides a plethora of offerings like adequate power, action-packed riding dynamics along with cutting edge technological features, under a budgeted price tag. The models like the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V are the hardcore players of the segment from a couple of years and here in this post, we are going to pit them against each other to find out how they perform in real-world scenarios.
Acceleration: Power figures for both the bikes are almost similar, however, the Apache with comparatively lesser weight gets an edge off the line. But the NS200 is quick to reach hundred and it gets benefited with 3PS of more power generation and the availability of extra gear.

Roll-on acceleration: As clear from the above-mentioned stats that the Apache gets an edge off the line due to the presence of strong low and mid-range. However, it did not become able to compete with the NS200’s quick revving motor above 7,000 rpm. The NS200’s motor with enough punch not only makes the bike climb from as low as 30 kmph in fifth gear but also make it lead in the roll-ons speed of both the bikes.
Braking: For any bike whether entry-level performance oriented or performance one, the braking plays a vital role as it is the only way to save the life of rider and pillion during mishappenings. If the performance of the bikes under question is considered, the Pulsar NS200 performs better over the Apache RTR 200. Under harsh braking, the provided braking setup on the NS200 offers powerful braking with a better bite. It doesn’t mean that the RTR 200 is not good, however, it’s less progressive in comparison. Even, the braking performance of the Apache RTR 200 4V ABS is low against Bajaj Pulsar NS200 non-ABS variant.
Fuel Economy: Besides being a 200cc bikes, both the models offer decent fuel efficiency. However, it’s the RTR 200 which with frugal engine unit wins the race in this aspect. Also, it manages to return 10.8kmpl of more fuel economy above the Pulsar NS200 in city conditions. While the presence of extra gear on the same makes the bike come closer to RTR 200 in delivered mileage on the highway conditions. Also, it avails the rider to speed up the bike into triple digits on the highway to convey a mind-blowing riding experience.
