Two of the largest taxi-operators, Uber and Ola have recently come up with a fresh concept of introducing a taxi-based two-wheeler service via a smartphone application. The idea was initiated by Uber first a few days before in Bangalore and following the same, its biggest rival, Ola has also started the bike taxi services. Offering more or less every kind of commuting services, this new conception seems to be a great start in the two-wheeler market.
Let's move over the charging scenario of these two schemes. To avail the service from Ola, there's a minimum fare of Rs. 30 in which, the user is required to pay Rs. 2 for one km and Rs. 1 per minute as a ride time charge. Whereas, UberMoto makes itself cheap as well plus a major time saver. For all those, who are looking for a short ride across towns, the service is best kept at Rs. 15 with Rs. 3 for a km and Rs. 1 per min will continue to be added as an additional charge. With an aim of enhancing up this new scheme, the taxi-operator is offering free rides to the new users. They can get a free ride of worth Rs. 100 via the coupon code uberMOTOBLR, which is there in the promotion section of the app.
When the bike taxi service by Ola launched, Pranay Jivrajka, COO of Ola, said, “With lower operating costs, increased efficiency and potential to do more trips, bikes are clearly a scalable mode of mobility.” In the upcoming weeks, the guys who will ride the bikes will be extended to more areas, added by him.
While the idea incepted by these two popular taxi-based operators appears to be pretty impressive and it sounds really cool as well when you explore your journey on bikes, it would have been very interesting to watch how long it is going to succeed and whether the audience will like it or not.
