UM Commando Classic model has got a new Carb variant in Indian lineup. The company is asking for INR 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for this new member that is INR 5,000 cheaper than its fuel-injected twin. It’s surprising that the company launched a carbureted variant without any prior announcement. Besides, the equipment of carburettor, this trim got a colour update only.
Mechanically, the bike will get power from the same 279.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine work on the fuel injected twin. Albeit, the power generation is different for both the trims. This new generates 23.7PS with a carbureted fuel system that is lower than the fuel injected trim with 25.1PS. However, the torque figures for both the trims stands at 23Nm.

For damping duties, there are 41mm telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. While the braking specs on the motorcycle consist of a single 280mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear. The ABS which is going to be a mandatory asset on the bike soon was missing on the Classic Carb variant. Give a hint of its implementation soon before the April 2019, the deadline.
As of now, the UM Commando Classic Carb variant availability is not get registered at the dealerships though we can scrutinize them in the coming weeks. In the segment, this variant too will see the competition with the likes compete with the fuel-injected variant. Including the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and the Bajaj Dominar 400.
