UM Motorcycles to Unleash Renegade Bikes at Auto Expo 2016

UM Motorcycles, the American motorcycle manufacturer have announced the launchings of three different variants of the renegade series of motorcycles in India during the Auto Expo 2016, which will be held in February 2016 ahead this year. As per the sources, UM Motorcycles had already made their inception at 2014 Auto Expo by showcasing all three models, namely, Renegade Commando, Renegade Commando Limited Edition and Renegade Sports. Also, it stated that the three variants has been designed explicitly for India and will be priced below 2 lakhs.

UM has signed a 50:50 joint venture with the Indian electric bike maker, Lohia Auto in September last year. Ayush Lohia, the chief executing officer, Lohia Auto, conveyed," We will be launching UM’s Renegade series of bikes, which will be in the 300cc-500cc category ". Hence, all three bikes will have the same power configuration of a 300cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes around 18 PS of power, featuring dual disc brakes and ABS. Manufacturing of the bikes is to be done at the existing facility located in Uttrakhand, Kashipur.

According to the earlier reports, the duo UM-Lohia is having a plan to launch one model of each in the 250cc segment, the 300cc segment following the 400cc segment and one model shall be launched in every 3 to 4 months holding the engine displacements between 100cc and 200cc. However, everyone is hoping that they don't push it away ahead more as they are eagerly waiting for the launch to be done eventually.
