Following the ban on BS III vehicles, two wheelers manufacturers in the country have soon started introducing the revamped products with the latest BS IV engines. Today, Royal Enfield has launched the BS IV Himalayan with fuel-injected engine technology at a price of INR 1,60,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
It was reported earlier that bookings for this updated tourer have been commenced with a token amount of INR 5,000. The deliveries for this BS IV Himalayan, however, will be started in the second week of May 2017.
With this new update, the Himalayan was supposed to come with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), but there is no such announcement made by the Royal Enfield at the launch. We might expect, the company would introduce this advanced braking mechanism on a later date this year.
On the mechanical front, the new 2017 Royal Enfield continues to draw power from a 411 cc single-cylinder long-stroke motor which is good for 24.5 bhp of maximum power and 32 Nm of peak torque.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan was first launched in India in March, 2016 at a price of ₹ 1.55 lakh, making the BS IV variant slightly expensive at ₹ 1.6 lakh.
