Volkswagen Ameo Compact Sedan Makes Debut in India

The car, which is rumoured all around now-a-days has finally made its world premier in India and also ready to make impression at country's largest auto show 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, which is just about to start from tomorrow. Yeah we are talking about the first compact sedan from Volkswagen, based on the VW Polo’s PQ25 platform and labelled as Ameo.

With information available, new Volkswagen Ameo comes with both petrol and diesel options. The specification of petrol variant includes a 1.2-litre MPI, which is good for 75 PS of power and 110 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel engine gets a 1.5-litre TDi that is capable of generating 90 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque. Both the motors are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission for now while a 7-speed DSG gearbox also mated with TDi option and could be connected with petrol motor too later this year.

Inside the cabin, new Volkswagen Ameo gets an advanced infotainment system along with Bluetooth, silver trim on the centre console, multi function 3-spoke steering wheel with manual adjustable and a dual tone black, automatic AC, front center armrest with rear AC, beige interior color combination and also with some signature features of company.

Talking about the some other features at exteriors like a rear view camera, a mirror link entertainment system, auto dimming internal mirror and alloy wheels. Safety features are also added such as ABS and dual front airbags as standard, cruise control and rain sensing wipers. It looks like the compact sedan is much similar to the ongoing Polo variant at the exteriors.

Mr Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “The compact sedan segment continues to garner much interest among Indian customers and we are happy to mark our presence in this segment.” Well, the market launch not confirm yet, but it would happen by the third quarter of this year and might go up against other car makers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Ford and Mahindra.
