Joining the festivities this season, the German automaker Volkswagen has launched the much anticipated performance hatchback, Polo GTI in India at the price of INR 25.65 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Thane). Performed by 189 Bhp of power, the hot hatch has become one of the most affordable quick cars that you can buy here in the country. At first, it will be available only in 2-door version but might get a 5-door variant if the automaker receives a positive response for the unit.
Talking about the design and features, which is more or less similar to the regular hatchback, albeit, some of the upgrades are also there with a view to enhance the appeal of the car. It includes LED headlights, a fresh honeycomb grille and redesigned front bumper. Besides, it will also come up with the GTI badge on the front as well as on the steering wheel, an integrated spoiler, a dual tip exhaust setup and an integrated spoiler.
On the safety front, the Volkswagen Polo GTI will sport six airbags, ABS and electronic stability control along with driver steering recommendation. Some of the other noteworthy features are listed as ORVMs with turn indicators, reflectors on rear bumper Hill Start Assist, cruise control, tilt and adjustable steering wheel, 60:40 foldable rear seats, cooled glove box, infotainment system with Aux, USB and Bluetooth support and six speakers.
With respect to mechanicals, the car will carry a 1.8-litre four cylinder TSI petrol engine under its hood that is capable enough to run the unit with a maximum power of 185 Bhp and 250 nm of huge torque. Further equipped with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, the motor will lay behind all the rival with a capability of having 0-100 kmph sprint under 7.2 seconds along with a maximum speed of 235 km/h. The braking duties will be taken care of by callipers discs painted in bright red.
The Polo GTI comes in four different exterior option namely Reflex Silver, Pure White, Black and Flash Red. Furthermore, all the variants will be sold through CBU (Completely Built Unit) route from Spain.
